Rod Porter's Bio
Rod is a seasoned vocalist whose journey in music commenced at the tender age of 4. His melodious odyssey began within the sacred walls of his local church, where he lent his voice to the Sunbeam Choir. By the age of 12, Rod's vocal prowess saw him ascend to the ranks of the adult choir, marking the inception of a lifelong devotion to music.
Driven by an insatiable passion for musical expression, Rod ventured into the vibrant realm of show choirs during his formative years in junior high school. With his troupe, he embarked on a journey across the nation, clinching numerous prestigious accolades along the way. However, it was his tenure with the illustrious Del Aires concert choir of Del City High School, under the mentorship of Ron Staton, that crystallized his love for the art form. Their distinction as one of America's premier youth choirs culminated in a transcendent performance at Carnegie Hall, etching Rod's name in the annals of musical achievement.
Throughout his academic pursuit at Jackson State University, Rod found solace and inspiration as a pivotal member of the Jackson State Interfaith Gospel Choir. Renowned for their electrifying performances, the choir provided a backdrop for Grammy Award-winning gospel luminaries, serving as a testament to Rod's vocal dexterity and unwavering commitment to his craft.
Rod's artistic fervor transcends the confines of traditional vocal ensembles, as evidenced by his foray into the theatrical realm.
